Sommerträume
Dreams of summer. Smithereens of terranes collide with the American plate. This causes the orogenesis of the Rocky Mountains. Parts of the Pacific ocean plate, that subsides the Juan de Fuca plate offshore the Northwest America, are partially melted. The North American plate is located inland. Below the ocean plates are melted. A ductile chemical cocktail of magma forms that rises through cracks in the Earth’s crust and accumulates in magma chambers. When the crust is weakened by dykes and the pressure is high enough the magma can force its way to the surface. Here, the gas content of the magma can abruptly escape. Magma becomes high explosive lava. This explains the volcanoes of the Cascade Range. This fantastic landscape will change into an inferno if Mt. Rainier reawakes.
