The Antelope slot canyons in Arizona developed from the erosive forces of summertime flash floods events. The lower Antelope canyon is only few centimeters wide at its top while it widens to large halls at its bottom. The canyon is up to 40m deep. Around noon, sun rays can penetrate deeply through the dusty air of the inner canyon leading to famous light beam effects The Navajo sandstone is formed out of petrified sand dunes dating back to the Jurassic Period.
